abstract This paper presents the results of the investigations of the Al2O3 ceramics to H25T steel joining process using sintered nanopowder Al2O3-micropowder Cr three-layer graded material. After the FEM analysis the initial thickness about 2 mm of each layer has been chosen to fabricate the graded material. The residual stresses in Al2O3-FGM-H25T steel joint (gFGM = 4.5 mm) compare to direct joint were about five times lower. Thanks to the appropriate manner of mixing and the appropriate conditions of sintering process the degree of sintering of the obtained graded material was high (Figs. 1, 3, Tab. 1). This paper presents also the conditions of joining Al2O3 ceramics to H25T steel using elaborated graded material and their structure (Fig. 7). Key words: FGM, sintering, nanopowders, ceramics-metal joints
