abstract The paper presents the results of the research on manufacturing of composite materials based on Al8.84%Cu6.33% Si0.65%Mg and reinforced with 2 and 5 vol.% of SiC particles by forming of preforms with the liquid phase. The preforms had their relative density 0.60 for the composite with 2 vol.% of SiC and 0.61 for the composite with 5 vol.% of the SiC. They were all prepared from the mixtures based on aluminium alloy powder obtained by spraying and the particles of silicon carbide SiC1000. The preforms were close-die forged in solid state at 500oC and with the liquid phase content at 510 and 530oC. The obtained products had their relative density up to 0.99 for the composites with 2 vol.% of SiC and up to 0.986 for the compacts with 5 vol.% of SiC. The examination of the mechanical properties of the products covered hardness (Fig. 5), bending strength (Fig. 6) and stress-strain curves (Fig. 7) after forging and after forging and heat treatment which included solutioning and ageing (Tab. 1). The sample forging shows the possibilities of application of forming with liquid phase content in manufacturing constructive elements of complex shapes (Fig. 9).
