abstract This paper presents the results of properties of adhesives containing polyester-glass fibre recyclate. The recyclate used as a filler of adhesive was a mixture of cured polyester resin particles, glass fibers and agglomerates of composites particles. Adhesives with addition of 1050% wt. of recyclate were made. The base of the adhesive was polyester resin. The results of mechanical properties of adhesive bonding has been presented. The values of shear strength and peel strength of adhesive bonding using adhesive with addition of recyclate were evaluated and compared with analogical properties appointed for standard sample. The results of investigation have shown that using of polymer composites wastes as a filler of polyester adhesive leads to improvement of joint’s mechanical properties. As can be observed the addition of composites wastes up to 30% wt., do not effect in decrease of shear strength of adhesive. The addition of recyclate also leads to increase the peel strength and max force needed for crack initiation. The tensile strength, flexural strength and impact of adhesive with addition of recyclate were evaluated. The results of the investigations have shown that using recyclate as a filler in amount up to 30% wt. do not lead to significant differences in tensile and flexural strength in comparison with polyester resin. The impact strength was found to increase when the recyclate was added. The optimal properties were achieved for the adhesive with addition of recyclate up to 30% wt. Polyester-glass fiber recyclate can be used as a filler of adhesives improving mechanical characteristics of joints and have a favourable effect on viscosity and thixotropy of adhesive. Using composites wastes as a filler of adhesive is also one of the way of thermosets utilization.
