abstract This paper is devoted to important issues of determining the strength and predicting the failure processes of composites. These issues enable determination of the limits of safe use of a product and the recognition of when limits are reached. It investigates the distribution function of the composite and its components. The developed model that is presented in this paper enables description of not only the predictable strength of unidirectional composites, but also the character of the failure, taking into account the fiber stress and/or ultimate strain distribution.
