abstract This paper presents some results concerning studies of nanocomposite Ni-Al2O3 coatings. The coatings have been produced by the electrochemical method in Watts’ bath. The used Watts’ bath has been filled with an organic substance and contained 5 g/dm3 of Al2O3 powder nanoparticles. Figures 2 and 3 show how the presence of the compound D1 in the Watts’ bath influences on structures of nanocrystal nickel layers. Figure 4 shows the structure of nanocomposite Ni-Al2O3 layers produced in a bath with addition of a organic compound and containing Al2O3 powder. Distributions of Al2O3 phase in nickel matrix are showing in Figure 6. Analysis and distribution of individual elements in nanocomposite Ni-Al2O3 layers are presented in Figures 4-6. The performed investigations of the nanocomposite layers have shown that the addition into the Watts’ bath of an organic component gives possibilities for obtaining nanocomposites with the Ni matrix. The dispersive nanometer ceramic Al2O3 phase has been included into the Ni matrix in a quite homogeneous manner within its volume. Key words: nanocrystal nickel coatings, nanocomposite coatings, structure of nanocomposites
