abstract In the paper results of computer simulations of the overmolding process of selected polymer composite were presented. At work the package of providing the engineering software CAD/CAM/CAE – I-DEAS NX ver. 11 to plastic parts spatial modeling, were used. For simulation research - simulation software Moldflow Plastics Insight ver. 6.1 was used. A molded part was used to the simulation, which contains elements: elastic membrane and rigid body. Computer simulations were pre-formed for injection of membrane and its overmolding with polymer composite. Materials for which investigations were per-formed are: thermoplastic elastomer Evoprene G 968 (membrane) and polypropylene composite with Isofil H 40 C2 NAT chalk (body). The results of the injection molding and overmolding simulation were presented in the graphical way. The hot composite influence on overmolding membrane was examinated. It is proved that membranes‘ material will be partially plasticized again during overmolding process. Hot composite (temperature over 200°C) which overflows cold membrane causes membrane material passing into plastic state. We may assume that permanent connection membrane with composite will take place. Temperature, pressure and shear rate were analyzed. The analysis of simulation research results helps us assert that specialist computer programs let us predict appearance of phenomena specific for given (processing ???). Modern simulation programs ensure us true reality projection ( if we assume that initial and boundary conditions which were entered are correct and that material data of processing composite is reliable). Simulation programs let us model wider and wider scale of polymer composites processing. The results of investigation have preliminary character. Cooling, shrinkage and warpage analysis will be planned within the limit of further research. Valuation of research results reliability will be possible after reference them to real process, what authors of present research paper intend to do in near future.
