abstract In this research work the example of computer image analysis for quality composite materials assessment, from the point of view of their ultimate tensile strength has been presented. Some geometrical parameters of reinforcing phase (SiC) and composite matrix have been determined. It was determined the correlation significance for chosen geometrical structure parameters and UTS. Non significant correlation between UTS and the geometrical parameters of the matrix precipitates have been founded. The significant, on the level α = 0.05, negative correlation (in the investigated structure range changes) between the UTS and the number of SiC precipitates related to the 1 mm2 of sample has been shown. It was obtained the similar relation between the UTS and the formulated synthetic parameter of reinforcing phase form χ including number of SiC precipitates related to the 1 mm2 of sample and their size.
